About us

Pawfect Weddings

We’re a Brisbane-based Australian couple, and our own dog, Ellie — a lively Jack Russell X Maltese terrier — inspired us to start this site.

We know how much your dog is part of your family, and we’re here to help you include them in your wedding, safely and stylishly.

With love (and wagging tails),
Peter and Michelle Dowse & Ellie

About Pawfect Weddings

Planning a wedding is exciting. Planning a wedding with a dog? That’s a whole different experience.

Pawfect Weddings was created to help couples include their dogs in their wedding day in a way that’s thoughtful, stress-free, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved — especially your dog.

Why Pawfect Weddings exists

As dog lovers, we know our pets aren’t “just animals” — they’re family. For many couples, it feels natural to want their dog by their side on one of the most important days of their lives.

But here’s the problem:
– most wedding advice doesn’t take dogs into account — and most dog advice doesn’t understand weddings.

Pawfect Weddings bridges that gap.

This site was created to provide practical, realistic, experience-based guidance for couples who want to include their dog in their wedding day without unnecessary stress, safety risks, or last-minute chaos.

What we help with

Pawfect Weddings focuses on the real-world details couples often don’t think about until it’s too late, including:

  • Planning dog-friendly wedding timelines
  • Understanding venue rules and restrictions
  • Preparing dogs for crowds, noise, and unfamiliar environments
  • Choosing outfits, accessories, and roles that suit your dog’s personality
  • Deciding whether you need a dog wedding attendant
  • Creating backup plans so your day runs smoothly no matter what

We don’t just share inspiration — we help you make informed decisions that put your dog’s wellbeing first.

Our approach

Every guide on Pawfect Weddings is written with three core principles in mind:

1. Dog welfare comes first

If something looks cute but could stress or harm a dog, we’ll say so.

2. Real weddings, real planning

Weddings are busy, emotional, and fast-paced. Our advice is grounded in how wedding days actually unfold, not idealised Pinterest scenarios.

3. Australian-focused advice

Venues, regulations, weather, and expectations can vary widely. Our content is written with Australian couples and conditions in mind, while still being useful to readers worldwide.

Who this site is for

Pawfect Weddings is for couples who:

  • See their dog as part of their family
  • Want to include their dog responsibly, not as a last-minute add-on
  • Value planning, preparation, and their dog’s comfort
  • Want honest advice — including when not to include their dog

Whether your dog is walking down the aisle, appearing in photos, or simply involved in a quiet part of the day, our goal is to help you do it the right way.

Transparency & trust

Pawfect Weddings is an independent resource.

We aim to provide clear, unbiased information so couples can make confident decisions.

Some pages may include recommendations, resources, or future partnerships, but our priority is always useful, trustworthy content that genuinely helps couples and their dogs.
