Your dog might not understand what all the fuss is about, but they certainly know when something delicious is happening! Including some special dog-friendly treats in your wedding plans is a lovely way to make your pup feel like part of the celebration.

From personalised biscuits and pupcakes to a special wedding-day meal, there are plenty of ways to give your dog something memorable to enjoy. You can even extend the idea to your human guests by creating a treat station or providing dog-themed favours for other canine friends attending the wedding.

Give your dog their own wedding cake

A dog-friendly wedding cake can be a fun alternative to sharing your human wedding cake with your dog. Specialist pet bakers can create cakes, cupcakes and other treats specifically for dogs, often with decorations, colours and personalised details to complement your wedding theme.

You could have your dog's name included on the cake, choose decorations that match your wedding colours or even have a miniature version of your own wedding cake made especially for them.

Just remember that a cake that looks like a traditional wedding cake isn't necessarily suitable for dogs. Human cakes can contain ingredients that aren't appropriate for pets, so make sure your dog's cake and decorations are made with dog-friendly ingredients.

If several dogs will be attending your wedding, consider setting up a small dog-friendly treat station at the reception. This can be both practical and a fun feature for your four-legged guests.

Don't forget about canine wedding favours

Keeping their normal feeding schedule is still important, though. Your dog doesn't need to wait until the reception to eat just because everyone else is having dinner. A hungry or uncomfortable dog is unlikely to enjoy the celebrations!

Think about presentation

Dog-friendly treats can become part of your wedding styling too. If you're putting together a treat station or favour bags, choose packaging and decorations that complement your wedding colours and overall theme.

You could display personalised biscuits alongside the guest favours, place a small cake on a decorated table for your dog, or create a dedicated “doggy guest” area with treats, water and other essentials.

Just make sure decorative items such as ribbons, skewers, toothpicks and small ornaments are kept away from dogs that might chew or swallow them.

Whether it's a beautifully decorated dog-friendly wedding cake, a personalised biscuit after the ceremony or a bag of treats to take home, these little details can make your dog feel like a genuine part of your wedding celebration.

Most importantly, choose treats that are safe and appropriate for your individual dog, and don't let the excitement of the day disrupt their normal routine too much. The best wedding treats are the ones your dog can enjoy safely while you enjoy watching them be part of your special day.
