1. What makes your venue special?
The Old Dairy Maleny is set on 90 acres in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, with sweeping valley views, beautiful ceremony spaces and a character-filled reception barn. Couples can create a celebration that feels personal to them, whether that’s an intimate ceremony or a two-night experience with their closest people.
2. What does being dog-friendly mean to you?
For many couples, their dog is part of the family, so including them in the ceremony or weekend (2 night package) makes the day/weekend feel complete. We love being able to welcome dogs for those special moments.
3. What can couples expect when they choose to have their dog at their wedding at your venue?
We’re happy to discuss how their dog can be involved in the ceremony, weekend and photos, and help them plan the practical details. We recommend a dedicated pet sitter or wedding chaperone so the couple can enjoy the day knowing their dog is cared for.
4. Are there any areas of the venue where dogs are welcome – and are there any areas where they aren't permitted?
Our ceremonies and cottages are pet-friendly. Couples should discuss their chosen ceremony location and any plans for indoor access or accommodation with us beforehand, rather than assuming dogs can access every space.
5. What are your favourite moments involving dogs?
The moments that feel most special are often the simplest — a couple seeing their dog before the ceremony or having them beside them for a family photo. Their presence adds such a personal touch.

6. What advice would you give couples who are considering bringing their dog to their wedding?
Plan around your dog’s personality and comfort. A dog who enjoys people may love a short appearance, while a more nervous dog might be happier joining just for photos. There’s no need for them to stay for the whole celebration.
7. Are there any practical things couples should consider?
Arrange a dedicated handler, keep your dog on a lead and bring water, a bowl, waste bags and a familiar bed or blanket. Consider the weather, travel arrangements and where your dog will go after the ceremony. Any onsite accommodation arrangements need to be confirmed with us in advance.
8. How can couples help their dog feel relaxed?
Keep their usual routine where possible, allow time to settle in and bring familiar items. A quiet break away from the crowd can help, and it’s best to avoid asking them to do anything they’re uncomfortable with.
9. What's a lovely way to include dogs?
Walking down the aisle with a trusted person, joining the couple for portraits or wearing a comfortable floral collar or bow tie are lovely options. The best approach is one that suits the dog and allows them to be themselves.
10. What would you say to couples looking for a dog-friendly venue?
Tell us about your dog and how you’d like them involved! We understand how meaningful it is to have them there, and we’d love to help you plan a ceremony that includes them comfortably.
